A conference of thousands used to leave truckloads of waste behind.
At BEYOND, we brought it down to a single crate.
The 2025 BNI Taiwan International Conference took BEYOND as its theme. ChiHe built the visual language around the Yushan mountain range, the Taiwan blue magpie, and native butterflies, turning the conference into more than a showcase of results: a brand statement of Taiwan stepping onto the global business stage. Sustainable exhibition design was built in from the start, so that going beyond also shows in the carbon numbers.
At a business conference of thousands, the main backdrop walls, entrance features, and wayfinding fill the entire venue. The conventional approach covers it all in large-format PVC laminate prints on composite board, and the moment the event ends, clearing the waste takes truck after truck. The grander the occasion, the bigger the pile on teardown day.
ChiHe replaced PVC laminate and backing board with modular, re-shippable dye-sublimation stretch fabric, redesigning the backdrop walls, brand features, and banners from the ground up. Teardown no longer needs multiple truck runs: a few crates were enough to recover everything. This is a low-carbon exhibition model any chapter in the world can replicate.
Reducing waste is where business civilization begins; cutting carbon together is a new height for BNI's growth.
Visuals that tell the story, materials that circulate, teardown without the burden. ESG moves from organizational culture to a measurable result on the conference floor.
A mountain peak anchors the identity, woven together with the Yushan range, the Taiwan blue magpie, and native butterflies. The A in BEYOND is rebuilt as a peak, in one identity system extending to wayfinding, stage, certificates, and merchandise.
Modular, reusable dye-sublimation stretch fabric fully replaces PVC laminate film and composite board, avoiding one-off carpentry and large-format prints. The fabric dismounts, ships, and installs again.
Modular design cuts teardown waste dramatically. What once took multiple truck runs to clear was recovered this time in just a few crates, a low-carbon template that can be replicated at major business events in any city.
Assessed by ChiHe, the project's sustainability and carbon data partner: this edition's exhibition walls totaled 3,608 tsai (approx. 331 m²) of display output. With conventional PVC prints and composite board, the carbon footprint would be about 651.27 kgCO₂e; with the dye-sublimation stretch fabric solution, it drops to about 405.9 kgCO₂e.
Carbon figures were estimated by ChiHe Design using secondary data from Taiwan's Product Carbon Footprint Information Platform, based on 3,608 tsai (approx. 331 m²) of exhibition walls. Tree and mileage equivalences are illustrative; actual results vary with each installation.
From fabric materials and low-carbon production to business-community collaboration, this project maps to the following three UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
